GARDENING at GLEN FALLS HOUSE

About The Gardens

the gardens at GFH were created to share the simple magic of plants with our guests and community. we are committed to the revitalization and stewardship of our land and utmost quality of our herbs, florals and vegetables. our sundry gardens supplement the restaurant with fresh produce and herbs, and will provide florals for weddings and events on property.

gardener duties

• operate independently + meet goals set by property manager

• help ensure a steady workflow

• watering all gardens and planters on the grounds

• harvesting and recording herbs for the apothecary, vegetables for the kitchen and flowers for weekly arrangements and events

• garden maintenance (weeding, beautifying and maintaining all gardens for “guest readiness”)

• ability to survey the garden for work to be done

• tidying tools, maintaining organization in the gardens, sheds and hoop house

• seeding and planting

preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• two or more years experience working in a garden or farm setting

• is flexible in their work-flow, as duties may shift week-to-week

WORKING CONDITIONS

• standing or walking for long periods of time

• must possess the ability to bend at the knees and hips and to lift at least 30 pounds overhead

• must be able to physically exert themselves, using heavy garden implements such as hoes and shovels

HOUSEKEEPING at GLEN FALLS HOUSE

JOB DESCRIPTION

housekeeping will consistently perform duties that have a direct impact on the quality of guest stays.

housekeepers will be responsible for maintaining and reporting inventory + needs to management, scheduling cleaning routines, cleaning hotel rooms and public spaces, polishing furniture, changing bed linens and other necessary supplies, dusting, mopping and sweeping, laundry maintenance, determining the inventory of cleaning agents, and maintaining a sanitary environment in the hotel.

Preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• prior experience in housekeeping/laundry attending is preferable

• ability to maintain inventory of linens, detergents on shared file

• familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment

• active and efficient

• strong interpersonal communication skills

• ability to work in a team or individually as and when required

• ability to manage and handle multiple tasks

• exceptional attention to detail + time management

• scheduling experience

HOURS

• full time, part time

• 8-10 hour shift

• weekend availability required
